Working with Water Spirits
Nymphs, Mermaids, Oceanids, Water Horse, oh my! The element of water is diverse and vast and holds within it a variety of malevolent and benevolent spirits. From Faery women such as the Gwragedd Annwn, Melusine, and the Lake Ladies to Selki, Nix, Naiad, and Nereid. In this class we will discuss working with water as an elemental as well as a variety of beings that fall under the Water Spirit umbrella. Many are shapeshifters that can move from human to inhuman form while others embody the water or are God like beings. We will discuss which ones are safe to approach through spirituality and the more accurate and not so benevolent nature of spirits such as Mermaids, Water Horse, and Rusalka. We will also discuss different bodies of waters such as the ocean, lakes, rivers, bogs, canals and the spirits that tend to dwell in these places. Our focus will be on European Water spirits but the lecture will establish that there are a wide variety of spirits to work with that dwell within or near water in a global scale.
Cults of the Sacred Springs and Holy Wells
Throughout space and time Water has been considered holy and sacred. It has been used to both heal as well as used to carry curses. Many holy wells are honored for their sacred properties, holy water and sometimes even having a spirit itself! Sacred springs and holy wells are where both malevolent and benevolent spirits dwell. In this lecture we will discuss a variety of sacred springs and holy wells including those at Glastonbury, Bath, St. Brigid’s holy well, and Mother Shipton’s Wishing Well just to name a few. These sacred wells and springs have been used to curse and heal for hundreds of years. There are literally thousands of sacred water sites in the UK and Europe many featuring a rich esoteric history of spells, rituals and customs. We will discuss the use of healing magic and cursing that was common in these sacred spaces.
Lake Ladies, Fountain Faery and other Watery Women
Throughout folklore and mythology, faery women have captivated the hearts and minds of many and are often associated with a body of water such as a lake, fount or ocean. Nymphs, Mermaids and other mysterious watery women associated with water will be discusses in this class.

Sacred Dance Water Ritual
Water is essential to life; without water we are just parched barren land. Water is the element of emotion and connecting to this element can bring depth to our dance. In this class we will begin with a short meditation on water that will include visualization and an exploration of different types of water. As a group, we will then begin to explore different movements that are associated with the element water. We will explore how to feel them in our body and discuss this element in relation to our bodies, spirit, and mind. We will end the class by learning a small repetitive choreography which will be performed as a group in a Dance Devotion Ritual to the spirit of water.
How to create Sacred Dance space and a Sacred Dance practice
Dance is sacred and can be turned into a daily practice by creating sacred space and choreography. However many might not know where to start! In this class we will explore the elements that make up a sacred dance practice including the basics of setting up space, different cleansing methods, energetic prep work and how to create a dance altar. We will explore things such as music selection, working with Deity or spirits in devotion, creating vision boards, dance talisman, and even using henna as part of your dance practice. We will also discuss creating sacred space for others and what to take into consideration when hosting a Sacred Dance Ritual for others. By the end of the class the student should have a good understanding of a Sacred Dance practice and should have the confidence to create their own practice at home, merging dance and spirituality.
Dancing in Devotion
Dance can be an expression of the Divine; the Divine nature within ourselves as well as in devotion to the spirit or Deity. If you are devoted to a particular spirit or Deity and want to create a performance that is in devotion to this Divine being this class is for you! We will discuss different aspects of Dance Devotion, from creating a ritual dance shrine devoted to your deity, music selection, research, choreography, costuming and most importantly merging history and folklore with modern practices to create a modern system of dance in devotion to something greater than ourselves.
